The Department of Dermatology is equipped with advanced facilities for the diagnosis and treatment of skin disorders. In addition to conventional treatment of skin diseases, the Department provides PUVA therapy for patients with psoriasis and vitiligo, and Cryotherapy for the treatment of certain skin tumours. Also available are the latest methods for testing and treating skin allergies.

The Department routinely treats aesthetic problems such as skin aging, hirsutism (excessive facial and body hair growth) and chloasma (excessive facial pigmentation). A recent introduction is the Cellulolipolyse treatment - a form of electrotherapy for the removal of cellulite (fat deposits).

A full range of Plastic Skin Surgery is offered - including liposuction of the neck, abdomen, thighs and legs, blepharoplasty for drooping eyelids, laser-assisted hair transplantation, and the treatment of varicose veins.

The department is perhaps the only centre in the region that offers a complete range of Laser Skin Treatments. Its armamentarium of Flash Lamp Pulsed Dye Laser, Q-Switched, Frequency-Doubled, Nd:YAG Laser, and the Carbon Dioxide Laser, allows permanent removal of all kinds of birthmarks, scars and keloids, haemangiomas, stretch marks, warts, benign skin growths and tumours, and all kinds of tattoos and pigmented lesions - in fact, treatment of any skin condition that is amenable to laser therapy.
