Al Zahra's dedicated Laser Vision Clinic, established in Dubai since 1993, has acquired the latest 4th generation MEL80 Excimer laser from Carl Zeiss, Germany . In addition to PRK and LASEK, the centre now offers LASIK with WASCA wave front analysis. According to Dr. Sandip Mitra, our Specialist Ophthalmologist, these additions now allow laser vision correction customised for individual patients. Results have been extremely encouraging with almost total avoidance of glare and markedly improved night vision.
A recent addition to Al Zahra's ambulance fleet is a state-of-the-art Cardiac Care Ambulance. The vehicle, the size of a normal-sized living room, is equipped with the latest cardiac resuscitation and monitoring equipment. “Early intervention is the key to successful management of a heart attack”, remarked Dr. Abhay Pande, Al Zahra's Consultant Interventional Cardiologist. “We can now provide prompt attention at the victim's door-step and follow it up at our state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheterisation Lab”, he added.NEW APPOINTMENTS Dr. Mitra is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists of United Kingdom . He trained in Vitreo-retinal Surgery at the Moorefield Hospital , London , and specialised further in Corneal & Refractive Surgery at the Royal Victorian Eye & Ear Hospital , University of Melbourne , Australia .Prior to joining Al Zahra, Dr. Mitra headed the Department of Ophthalmology at the Sultan Qaboos University Hospital , Sultanate of Oman. Dr. Mitra's main interests are corneal & refractive surgery such as LASIK , LASEK and PRK (including wave front customized ablation), suture-less phacoemulsification , glaucoma & vitreo-retinal surgery.
Dr. Adel Y. Al Eryani Dr. Al Eryani has over 10 years experience in Interventional Cardiology. Prior to joining Al Zahra, he was Consultant Interventional Cardiologist and Head of Department of Cardiology, at the Al Hammadi Cardiac Centre, Riyadh , Saudi Arabia . In addition to performing various kinds of interventional procedures, Dr. Al Eryani has vast experience in both Transthoracic and Transesophageal echocardiography and Doppler. His main areas of interest include primary angioplasty for acute myocardial infarction , bifurcation lesion angioplasty and multi-vessel angioplasty .
Dr. Ayman Al Sibaie Dr. Al Sibaie has joined us recently. He is a graduate of the Friedrich-Schiller University , Jena , Germany , and was Head of Interventional Radiology at Wald Klinikum, in Gera , one of Germany 's biggest hospitals. Dr. Al Sibaie has over 12 years experience in Radiology and Interventional Radiology, and his main interest has been in minimally invasive interventional techniques for treating vascular and other diseases.
