Dr. Farouk Safi
Dr. Farouk earned his MD of Medicine in Damascus University (1978). He started his postgraduate study in Surgery in the University Hospital of Ulm (1980) and received his Facharzt Degree of Specialist in Surgery (1986), and his PhD at the University of Ulm, Germany (1988).
Dr. Farouk worked as a Consultant in Surgery (1986) and Associated Professor of Surgery (1990), after which he was promoted to Professor of Surgery at the University of Ulm (1996). He later became a Consultant and Senior Specialist in Visceral Surgery (1996) and in Surgical Intensive Care (1997).
Dr. Farouk also became Chairman of the Department of Surgery University of Jena Germany Teaching Hospital Weimar (1999-2002) and worked as a Professor of Surgery at the United Arab Emirates University, Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences and Consultant at Tawam and Al Ain Hospitals (2002 – 2015).
Dr. Farouk’s expertise is in Surgical Oncology, Pancreatic and Liver Surgery, Laparoscopic Surgery, with research interest in developing new laparoscopic surgical technique and Surgical Oncology.
Dr. Farouk won ‘Best Poster’ in Advances in Regional Cancer Therapy from the Society of Regional
Chemotherapy, Giessen, Germany (August 1985), and the Grassi Price at the 11th World Congress Collegiums International Chirurgie Digestive, New Delhi, India (November 1990). Dr. Farouk conducted the 2nd Scientific Conference for Medical Students in GCC Countries in Al Ain Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences at UAE University, United Arab Emirates (January 2004).
