ENT, Audiology & Speech Therapy
The Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Department covers three main areas consisting of Otology, Head and Neck surgery, and Facial Aesthetics. The department performs microsurgery of the ear, runs a successful Cochlear Implant programme- a procedure that has revolutionized the treatment of both congenital and acquired deafness. Consultants also treat vertigo and dizziness due to problems in the inner ear.
The second section of the department is responsible for diagnosing diseases of the head and neck. Al Zahra ENT consultants perform endoscopic sinus surgery as well as uvulopalatopharyngoplasty for the treatment of heavy snoring. The department diagnoses problems of the larynx and pharynx as well as detection of head and neck tumours. All voice disorders are dealt with and treated by the consultants. Laser techniques are employed wherever necessary.
The department has performed several hundred cases of rhinoplasty. Blepharoplasty, neck and face-lifts are done regularly, as well as cheek and chin augmentation. The consultants also practice liposuction to the chin. A photo analysis unit is employed in all aspects of facial aesthetics. Non-surgical 8 points face lift with dermal fillers and a clinical work with one suture face-lift is mostly recommended and worldwide popular for middle age male and female. They are part of our daily practice. Facial rejuvenation and muscle relaxants for medical and cosmetic purposes are applied as a package of our complimentary treatment.
Audio- Vestibular Medicine:-
Within the ENT Department, we have an Audio Vestibular Unit, run by fully qualified Audio Vestibular Medicine Specialists and Audiologists. We perform all hearing and balance evaluation and rehabilitation of hearing and balance disorder for both adults and children.
We provide the following services for both adult and children with our advanced technology.
- VNG (Video Nystagmograph)
- Head impulse test
- Ecoch G (Electrocochleography)
- VEMP (Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potential)
This department also has computerized testing of Brain Stem Evoked Potentials for evaluating hearing in newborn babies.
We also do Cochlear implant mapping for all types of Cochlear implants.
In our ENT department, we have a Speech Therapy Clinic with a resident speech therapist, who performs Assessment, Diagnosis & Treatment for Speech, Language & Voice Disorders in Children & Adults.
In addition to Assessment & Re/Habilitation of Hearing Impaired patients before & after the Cochlear Implant Surgery.
